What to Do When ODSP Denies Your Application
If your application for ODSP is refused by the Disability Adjudication Unit (DAU) or your local office, you have the legal right to challenge the decision. Over half of appealed ODSP decisions are successfully overturned.
The 30-Day Deadline for Internal Review
The mandatory first step in the appeal process is requesting an Internal Review:
- You have 30 calendar days from the date you receive your denial letter to submit your request in writing.
- State clearly in your letter: “I am writing to request an Internal Review of the decision dated [Date] denying my ODSP benefits.”
- Include your member ID, file number, and any new medical reports or specialist letters supporting your disability claim.
